Billerica Twinning Meeting 4.18.12 April 20, 2012
The Billerica Twinning Association met Wednesday night at my house. Joan1, Joan2, Diane and Priscilla (via Skype) and I were in attendance. Most of our discussion was about the 2013 Billerica Twinning Association wall calendar we are creating! We will be requesting some specific photos from our friends in Billericay… stay tuned. Jayne G.
April April 8, 2012
Patriots Day is celebrated on April 16th this year, celebrated the Monday before April 18th which is the actual date of the Battle of Lexington Green. Massachusetts is the only state that celebrates Patriots Day. The office I work at is closed on Patriots Day. I could visit Lexington at around 6:30 a.m and watch the “Battle” reenactment. I probably won’t, but have attended in the past. It is an exciting event that draws large crowds. The actors who play Minutemen and British soldiers are dressed in authentic and elaborate costumes. The battle is played out with yelling, guns firing, players dropping dead and eventually mournful silence. Several hours later there will be a parade in Lexington. The following link is a guide to Patriots Day events in and around Lexington and Concord, 2012. http://www.nps.gov/mima/patriots-day.htm – Jayne
